Samsung’s Galaxy S i9000

One of the most popular phones on the market today is the Galaxy ace series.  The Samsung Galaxy S i9000 has many features that put this phone above its competitors and makes this one of the best phones around.

With a super Amoled screen, featuring 16 million colors and a capacitive touch screen, the display on the Samsung Galaxy S i9000 is beautiful.  Gorilla glass covers it, which is virtually indestructible through normal use.  You wont have to worry about scratching the touch screen because gorilla glass is scratch resistant and it will require little cleaning, as the glass is finger print resistant.  At 4 inches, the screen is a generous size and there is the ability to use a multi touch function if you wish to.

For incoming calls and messages, there is a choice of notifications.  The vibrate setting can be turned on or off again and you can choose from wav or mp3 files for notification tones.
The Samsung Galaxy S i9000 has 8GB or 16GB internal storage space.  This is usually enough for many people, but you can expand by up to 32GB if you want to.

For connecting to your phone provider’s network, there is 3G, EDGE, GPRS and quad band support.  You can connect to a wireless network connection using the phone’s WiFi and this will allow you to browse the web.
With a 1GHz processor and 512 MB internal memory, this is a powerful phone for running your various chosen applications.

With the use of the Android market, you can access thousands of apps and choose which ones to install on your Galaxy S i9000.  This includes many apps that you can even get for free.  You should be careful that you get a good antivirus app for your Samsung Galaxy S i9000 as there are viruses that you can get on your phone, and whilst these usually just mean that you get advertisement notifications, sometimes they can harm your phone so it is a sensible precaution to take.

HTC Evo 4G

The HTC Evo 4G is a 4G phone, which uses the Google operating system.  4G is a relatively new technology and not many people have come up with things to do with it yet, but as more gadgets become available, you will find that this is a phone that will not outdate very quickly.

You may be disappointed that the HTC Evo 4G is quite a chunky phone.  Its clunky body shape has been smothered in smooth surfaces, glossy finishes and hints of color but there’s no denying that this isn’t the prettiest of phone available.  It is still very robust and because of its slightly larger size it fits more comfortably in your hand than smaller phones will.

One thing we love about this phone is the battery life since it can last a few days without usage. However, if you are using this phone heavily, with it’s 1150 maHr battery, it will last you until the next day. We did a test on the battery life and it lasted us from 8pm today until 11pm the next day, which is pretty spectacular compared to other flip phones.

T-Mobile MyTouch 4G

The T-Mobile MyTouch 4G is especially known for it’s high speed 4G downloads of practically any type of media. Videos, pictures, and applications can be installed within a few seconds, rather than waiting minutes for them to download and this is just one of the reasons why people prefer the MyTouch over other smartphones. HTC Thunderbolt

The HTC Thunderbolt has certainly gained attention of consumers all over America and is now, considered one of the top 10 smartphones. Why is this? Well, let’s look over a few things it can do first. This 4.2 inch phone with WVGA display, can take flawless pictures and even capture video. It has a built in 8 megapixel camera and dual LED flash. This phone is the very first smartphone from Verizon and some even claim that it is better than the iPhone 4G. The Android web browser is versatile, allowing sites to open in either the mobile or standard version. Anything can be adjusted, including the way text and images show up, as well as the Javascript setting.

As far as organization, you can look over notifications on the HTC Thunderbolt, according to the name of the notification and a small note. It also has the time on the right side, displaying everything perfectly. If you are someone who likes using Gmail, this phone is the perfect match for you. Logging into Gmail is simple, and folders within the Inbox can be managed easily. You can mark each message as read or discard it if you are getting any spam emails.

The home screen is much more advanced compared to the iPhone 4G. For example, you have a large date stamp and a weather symbol which indicates rain or shine. Visual learners love this and those who want to know the details of the Hi and Lo of the day, well – there you have it, all on the screen. Below that, you can go through your applications and pick the ones you’d like to use.

BlackBerry Bold 9780

The BlackBerry Bold 9780 is a smartphone that allows you to connect anywhere, utilizing it for email, calendar, and organization as well. If you want a phone that allows you to multitask, this is definitely it. This bold phone brings forth the best experience any phone user could have, because of its ability to multitask. For example, you are able to check your mail with up to 10 different accounts. Using multiple applications is also possible too.

Our favorite feature is the tabbed browsers. You can get an update from any social networking site, and also through RSS feeds. Any application you install on your phone is easy to find, using the universal search command. You can also find out what your location is, through the GPS system. The GPS feature is much like the iPhone 4G GPS, because the Blackberry Bold 9780 also has a trackball. Press the ball twice and you can zoom into the map. This is very handy if you are someone who constantly gets lost.

This smartphone has 512 MB flash memory, also included with a memory slot as well. The card slot can hold 32 GB if you need extra storage space. Aside from this, we really like the browsing option. You can look through different sites and switch back and forth between the two. The Blackberry Bold will also let you chat through Facebook, Myspace, and even Twitter.

If you are someone who is always looking at the clock, you will absolutely love this phone. The timestamp is displayed prominently in the middle of the screen, where you can always see it. The keypad is usable although somewhat small, you can still text. The overall cost of the phone is under $140 which is affordable for just about anyone who wants a compact, yet stylish phone.

LG Thrive

AT&T has come out with their first prepaid smart phone, the LG Thrive. It is one of the best ways that you can get a smart phone with out having to pay that gargantuan price tag that you normally have to pay on some of the other popular phones. Although the data and storage are a bit limited, you still should have more than enough capabilities to accomplish any normal phone tasks that you may have in mind. The Thrive runs with the Android 2.2 operating system, and has expandable memory up to 32 GB. The sound quality that you find with this phone leaves something to be desired, but that is a sacrifice that you have to weigh when getting a phone with these capabilities for such a low price without a contract.

As with any phone, you should purchase the screen protector for the touch screen. There are already a few complaints about scratches on the screen, and if they would have spent the extra money on a screen protector, that would not have happened. It boasts a 600 MHz processor that can handle most applications, but it will fall short when you are playing games like Angry Birds, during some of the more graphic intense scenes. The 3.2 mega pixel camera is great for average camera use. The average battery life for the LG Thrive is 7 hours talking, and 400+ hours idle, which is quite brilliant for a pre-paid phone. But, you will notice that with a smart phone 7 hours turns in to about 3 to 4 when you are using it consistently.

There are a lot of differences that you will have to live with to when you use this phone compared to a normal smart phone; short battery life, a camera that falls short of the standard and memory that will not last you very long. That is the trade off that you make for the nearly 500$ price difference between this cellular phone and some of the more popular ones. You can also get this phone with a contract, should you feel so inclined to do so. Having even the most basic smart phone for 150$ and no contract is a great opportunity for a lot of folks out there that can not afford some of the huge prices that we are seeing phones achieve these days.

Although this phone would not be many phone enthusiasts first choice, the LG Thrive is still quite impressive with the list of features that it does have. The price is the greatest benefit, and should help you compromise on some of the short comings that it has. This cellular phone is obviously a revolutionary breakthrough for AT&T in the pre-paid market, and that is music to the ears of a lot of people who do not want to commit to a contract and still have a smart phone. The Thrive is perfect for anyone that is looking for a good day to day use phone.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Play (CDMA)

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play (CDMA) has burst on to the technology market as one of the next big additions to the world of cellular phones. This phone gives a unique emphasis on gaming that you do not see in a lot of other phones. It has gaming controls that slide right out from the phone, and making gaming quite enjoyable. The battery life is not all that it could be, considering that the phone is a gaming phone, but Sony has made up for that by throwing in a 1 GHz Qualcomm processor and 512 MB of RAM. Sony has always come out with products that shake up the technology world, and they have achieved nothing less with this amazing new phone.

Aesthetically speaking, this is one of the best looking phones you can find these days. The Adreno 205 from Qualcomm is the GPU (Graphic Processing Unit) that the phone is equipped with, and it is a large step up from the Adreno 200 that Qualcomm was putting in other phones like the HTC touch previously. This new GPU is rumored to be about four times faster than its predecessor, and has a focus on streaming 3D graphics. Every one knows that if you want to have fun gaming, you are going to need a GPU that can handle the games that you put on your phone, and handle them well.

Although gaming is the main focus of this phone, the normal day to day aspects of owning a cellular phone hold up on their end as well. The 5 mega pixel camera and a memory limit that is expandable up to 32 GB, it leaves nothing to be desired. This phone is loaded with all kinds of features that you would come to expect from phones these days, and really takes your breath away when you see the multimedia in action. The front camera gives it a nice touch if you are interested and enjoy video calling. The only thing that this phone did not have that I even noticed, was an FM radio. But, you can solve that with an application like Pandora or just using the web browser.

You will have plenty of time to get any applications that you need from the Android market, which is what the phone runs on. Overall, this phone is a great balance between gaming and cellular phones. Sony has really raised the bar on their end, and come up with a phone that gamers and non-gamers will like just as much. The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play (CDMA) is the next generation of phones that are coupled with gaming, and is worth every bit of the 800$ that you would spend to buy it. Even if you were to just utilize this phone as a normal phone with out any of the gaming, which I do not see how you could resist the gaming, you would still enjoy all of the multimedia features that Sony has packed in to the new phone.

Motorola Atrix 4G

The Motorola Atrix 4G is a feature packed phone with some distinct advantages that you do not see in all of the smart phones that are coming out recently. Battery life is one of the most important aspects of any phone, and the Atrix does not disappoint in this category. The 8 hours of usage time is much more than a lot of other smart phones. You are going to be on the phone doing tasks all of the time, or just messing around, and it is important to have a battery that is going to last. This phone runs on the Android 2.2 platform, and boasts a Firefox capable browser with Adobe Flash. It has a 1GHz dual core processor and up to 32 GB of expandable memory. The touch screen comes with a virtual keyboard.

Feature packed seems to be a theme when you look at this phone, with a nice 5 mega pixel camera, you should not have any problems with pictures and videos. The fingerprint recognition software is one of the features that stood out to me the most, and recent technology has been headed in that direction, so it does not come as a surprise to most people. The dual core technology is always going to be a plus, and will allow you to have extra space to do what you wish with. Those dual core capabilities will make multi-tasking very easy, and should allow you to handle just about any thing from your phone. It is a nice feature that you would love to have in your computer, and now it is a nice feature that you can have with your smart phone as well.

Taking pictures and sharing them on your favorite social networks is an emphasis with this cell phone. Keeping up with your friends and letting them see the pictures that you have just taken is pretty standard with most smart phones now, but is still a nice benefit to have. You do not realize how great some of those basic necessities are until you have a phone that does not have those capabilities, and then you are left with uploading from a computer.

The Motorola Atrix 4G is one of the best in the business, and the smart phone technology is seemingly going in the right direction. Starting at 100$, it really is a steal for any one looking to make the jump in to the real capabilities of a smart phone. It has all of the nice features that you would require in a phone, and then it has so many other benefits that take this phone to the next level. The browser is one of the best features of the phone, and is really nice when paired with the Mozilla Firefox web browser. One of the best tech features is the dual core processor, which every smart phone should have here in the near future. Keep an eye out for this Iphone alternative; it is going to gain popularity quickly with customers.
